Focus on what truly matters.

I don’t think I’m the only one who felt that the excitement of the new year faded faster than ever before, as this has already turned out to be an extremely wild year. We barely made it through January before the headlines began exploding, the pace picked up dramatically, and life began demanding more attention than ever.

As I mentioned in January, the word FOCUS surfaced in my heart again and again as the new year approached, and in a year that’s already felt super unpredictable, distracting, and chaotic, I can now see why I needed to be reminded to focus. As the world's noise grows louder, it seems that focusing on what truly matters is becoming less of a resolution and more of a lifeline.

It’s not easy when the world is screaming at us from every turn, but when we can quiet the noise long enough to hear God’s voice, clarity will return. So, this spring, my focus is “spring-cleaning”. Not just the physical items that take our time and energy, but also the mental clutter, and focusing on what truly matters.

Stay focused, stay faithful, and let every small step move you closer to the life God is calling you to build.

Simple Joys

Reminder that the smallest surprises usually hold the biggest pieces of our hearts

When my kids were little, they had a few dinosaurs with their bath toys, and even after they outgrew baths in the evenings, the dinosaurs stayed in a basket in the bathroom for a while, because I guess I wasn’t ready to get rid of them. One morning, I woke up to find my daughter had posed the dinosaurs in a hilarious pose, and then she continued doing that for quite some time. I would wake up to find them hanging from the soap dish or faucet, fighting, playing soccer/ball, etc. It became my own little “elf on the shelf”. 😂

We haven't had bathroom dinosaurs for a while, but recently my daughter found this one while cleaning her room and set it on the bathroom faucet for me to find the next morning, which absolutely made my day! A few days later, I found the dinosaur hiding under a shell on our bathroom shelf, and since then, he has found his way hiding and causing mischief around the bathroom. These are the simple joys I’m enjoying now, as I know I’ll miss them when they are gone.

Train your heart to notice the little joys, as those are the moments that become our biggest memories.

Highlight of the Month

This was a historic moment in January when silver surpassed $100. Many felt silver would surpass $100 by the end of 2026, so it was even crazier to see it reach that level before the end of January. And while many found this an exciting time, it’s also important to pause and pay attention, as this reflects a deeper shift in the economy. Precious metals often reveal economic stress long before the headlines do, so is silver revealing what the dollar is hiding?

Usually, a run-up of anything that fast is unsustainable, so while silver has since come down into correction territory, this move was a good reminder to stay alert, stay informed, and pay attention to what these moves may mean for our everyday lives.

I think we’ve all been there at some point, chasing the little high that comes from purchasing something new. I’ve fallen into that trap more times than I can count.

When my son started working, he would drop all the paperwork he received onto my desk. He was unsure what to do with the papers, and most of them just needed to be filed. So, when he turned 18, I created a file system and a password book just for him. I got teased for it, as many asked if I was trying to push him out of the house, but this wasn't about rushing him out. It was about teaching him how to organize his own papers and responsibilities.
